Research and Development Projects/ Experience:
A number of research and development projects has been carried out mainly in
collaboration with EUROCONTROL Agency, Brussels, investigating the exploitation
of data link between aircraft and ground station via radar or satellite for
navigation purposes and development of suitable tracking algorithms.
Main areas:
Modeling aircraft dynamics for
simulations, manoeuvre prediction and tracking.
Use of radar and satellite
data-link for surveillance and trajectory prediction (Automatic Dependent
Surveillance, ADS).
Position estimation algorithms
based on multi-radar systems or on GPS.
Adaptive tracking algorithms
based on the Interacting Multiple Model Method (IMM).
Height Monitoring Units (HMU) towards implementation of Reduced Vertical Separation Minima (RVSM).
